Shu’aib Ernesta: First Interview

After sealing his move to Rovers FC, Shu’aib Ernesta spoke about his path through football so far, meeting up with teammates from school and settling in to a new team.

How does it feel to join Rovers FC?

It feels great to be joining Rovers. We aim to win the league and my focus will be on helping us achieve that target.

Tell us how you started playing football and the clubs and experiences you’ve had so far.

I started playing football when I was only 9 years old. My first team was called River Star and they made me fall in love with football and gave me the chance to grow and prove myself as a footballer.

Later I moved to St. Louis youth, then Plaisance FC in the 3rd division, then La Passe FC and finally Red Star FC in the Premier League. My experiences at La Passe and Plaisance were most memorable as I won silverware which is always the target.

What attracted you to join Rovers?

Rovers have ambitions of winning trophies and that is exactly what I want to do. Also it was appealing to join up with my ex-teammates from school and Plaisance FC who are already here.

Your ex-teammate from Plaisance FC Fabien Chang-time is here at Rovers. How has he helped you to settle in the new team?

Fabien was a big part of helping me to settle into the new team as we played together in Plaisance. Now I’m happy and settled and feel part of the family and ready to fight for results.

What would you say is your style of play and what will you bring to this Rovers team?

My style is simple. I work hard and keep the ball moving. I love playing football and give 100% every time I step onto the pitch.

As a young player you still have a lot of room for development. What would you like to add to your game and develop further?

I have a lot to learn and I’m going to concentrate on continuing to grow and leveling up my game so that I can help the team bring in the trophies.

Rovers is a very ambitious football club with high expectations. What are the targets for this season for both you personally and for the team?

The target is always to go after all the trophies which are available. The whole Rovers family shares the same targets. Inshallah we will be able to do that.
