Rovers sign Valdemar De Souza

Rovers have completed the signing of 21-year old midfielder Valdemar De Souza.

As a Seychellois who grew up in London UK, Valdemar spent his earlier years playing semi-professionally for Slough Town, Dorking Wanderers and Walton Casuals, having also been involved in the Seychelles National Team selections at both under-17 and under-19 levels.

Speaking about his signing, Valdemar said: “I’m really happy to sign for this ambitious club with such an exciting project.

“I believe it’s the perfect place to continue my development as a player.

“I like to play direct and I have good finishing so I hope to contribute with goals as well as assists.

“Of course there are still areas of my game which I need to work on but right now I’m looking to get match fit and be ready for the start of the season because I have trophies on my mind!”

Steve Herbots, Rovers Head Coach, said: “Valdemar is a young player who has a lot of potential still to achieve, but he is a player who I’ve worked with and I know about his qualities and characteristics.

“He is a powerful and pacy runner and different to what we’ve got – that was a big attraction.”

Discussing Valdemar’s arrival at the Club, Manager Kosta Todorovic said: “Coming from UK football Valdemar knows the dedication and commitment we expect at Rovers.

“Valdemar has also previously worked with our head coach so we know exactly the type of player we are getting – and we couldn’t be happier.”

With the COVID-19 restrictions in the UK and a quarantining period upon arrival back to Seychelles, Valdemar will be looking to quickly get up to speed with the rest of the group having missed a large part of the pre-season.
