Belgian coach, Steve Herbots, has today been appointed as head coach of Rovers FC. Herbots will be assisted by Collin Stravens as they look to continue the team’s success into the new season and new division.
The 37 year old played professional football in the Belgian 1st Division but moved into coaching after his playing career was unfortunately cut short due to injury.
Herbots is a Belgian FA A (and UEFA B) licensed coach and over the last 12 years he has coached at various levels of football in countries around the world. Most recently he won the Championship 1 title with Victoria City FC and secured their promotion to the Seychelles Premier League.
Herbots was excited by the appointment and stated “It’s incredibly exciting after eight months out of the game. Just feeling that buzz again really and being desperate to be back part of it.
Getting an opportunity at a club like this – a really, really passionate club with an impressive long-term plan – for me that’s what it’s all about and I can’t wait to get started.”
Rovers Chairman Kosta Todorovic said “We are really pleased to have Steve on board with us. He brings with him vast experience, dedication and strong work ethic which can help us to continue growing as a club.”
